Leaflet from a British Museum exhibition recently ended. It showcased the work of Samuel Palmer (1805-1881), a painter particularly admired for his visionary early period living at Shoreham, when he embued the local countryside with a spiritual luminosity. The most popular wall of the exhibition was that displaying the six sepia drawings from 1825, usually on view in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. It was the penultimate day of the show, so it was very crowded, and you could barely get a look in at these pictures. Here is one of them:
